You asked for it and here it is.  Here's High Sierra's new 1/4 meter 5/8 wave antenna with an NMO base.  This is commercial quality and does have some gain because it is a 5/8 wavelength long.  It is 39 inches tall.  For 220MHz, you will need to trim the whip.  It is likely that the length will be about 32 inches.  So, you can start with a much longer length and then trim the whip as needed.  Do that in small steps.  The basic formula is 585/F in MHz. 

You can use one of our NMO Mounts. 

The price listed is for the antenna.  It does not include a mount.  The magnet mount shown was the easiest way to stand the antenna upright for the photographer.  He can be really picky.
