Here in the famous gold rush town of Nevada City, Sierra Slim was the stage coach driver that could get through when others failed. In the rugged terrain of the High Sierra, Sierra Slim drove his stage with "6 up" (6 horses) better than anyone. Sierra Slim always wore a red bandana. In his honor, our new Sierra Slim Antennas are designed to help you get through on HF. These antennas are an economical way get on HF. Sierra Slims can be used mobile or at home using one of our 3/8-24 mounts. Sierra Slims are made from a 4 foot long 3/8 inch fiberglass rod. There is an adjustable .100 diameter stainless steel whip that is about 48 inches long. The ferrule that holds the whip has two set screws so you can adjust for the lowest SWR and lock the whip into place. Sierra Slims have the standard 3/8-24 threaded bottom. Sierra Slims can handle a maximum of 200 watts PEP. These are monoband antennas. Many of High Sierra's many 3/8-24 mounts will work with Sierra Slims. You can click on the link to see them and order. On 15 meters the bandwidth of the Sierra Slim at a 2:1 SWR more than 350 KHz. Below is a graph from one of our analyzers. In other words, when you have properly installed and adjusted the antenna, it will cover all of 15 meters. The High Sierra Amateur Radio Club's callsign is W6UP (6up).
