Shortwave Active Antenna

DC, AC, USB or Solar Powered!

This antenna takes some explaining.  This Active Antenna is a three band antenna that will improve reception on radios from 100 KHz to 30 MHz when compared to the internal antenna or the whip on the radio.  

This antenna is really a system.  There are two antennas that plug into the top of the base amplifer (black box).  Up to about the AM broadcast band, a ferrite rod is used.  Above that, the telescopic whip is used.  We generally recommend that the system be placed near a window or open area for best reception.  We tested the antenna outside on a table with a short wave radio.

To connect the antenna to the radio, there is an 18 foot cable with a BNC connector on one end. That connects to the base amplifier.  The other end of the cable has an 1/8 inch plug.  That plug can be adapter to fit other kinds of connectors.  

Another interesting feature of this Active antenna is that it can be powered by an included USB cable, an included AC charger or with the solar panel that is on the top of the black box.  

So if you have a short wave radio and want to improve reception without a large outside antenna, this is the answer.
