Product Information
With High Sierra Antennas, there is a patented spring inside a computer machined collar that makes contact with the loading coil. We recommend that the spring be replaced about once a year. The contact spring is made from stainless steel.
There is no hazardous Beryllium Fingerstock in a High Sierra Antenna; never has been and never will. No one working here is exposed to Beryllium. This is no joke. Copper beryllium fingerstock can kill you!
Because we use a patented spring, there are no fingers to break off. This is the same spring design that we have used since 1993.
In one of the pictures above is the collar assembly that holds the spring. You can see the Delrin guide at the top of the collar. Like most of the items that we manufacture here, the collar is made in a computer driven machine to precise dimensions.
This spring is the same spring used in the Sidekick and HS-1800/Pro Antennas. It was also used in discontinued models like the HS-100, HS-101, HS-900, HS-1000, HS-1500 (all versions), HS-1800DX and HS-2700 antennas.
