k-Box Semi Automatic Controller for
Some Kenwood Transceivers
Plugs into Kenwood transceiver like the TS-480. The Kenwood transceiver must have the 6 pin Molex type connector on the rear for an antenna tuner. Not all Kenwood transceivers will work with the k-Box.
If you have the TS-480HX, please use the contact us form for more information.
With the k-Box. No external power supply needed. The Kenwood transceiver powers the Black Hawk Motor in the antenna. When you rock the switch, the transceiver transmits in the tune mode at reduced power. On some models, you must also press a button on the front of the transceiver.
You rock the switch and watch for the dip in the SWR. When that happens, you release the switch. The antenna has been tuned. Typically, that takes just a few seconds. Some jogging of the position of the coil may be necessary for the lowest SWR.
We make the metal box here at High Sierra. The aluminum box is powder coated black and is approximately 2 inches by 2 inches by 1.5 inches.
The light comes on when the antenna is fully retracted or fully extended. We call it our "end of travel light." It's almost magic!
We even put up/down arrows on the rocker switch. Isn't that cool.
The i-Box only works with antennas with the with the Sidekick and HS-1800/Pro Antennas. Those antennas have the Black Hawk Motor. Other brands, copies of our antennas and older version High Sierra Antennas do not work with the i-Box. Please don't call to complain, it won't work with other brands
The price is $110. When you purchase an antenna, Mobile Package Deal or Home Package Deal, you can pick the i-Box controller when you order by using the Product Options box at the bottom of that page. It adds just $50 to the price.
