Product Information
Plugs into the back of the Icom 703, 706, 718, 736, 746, & 756. The Icom transceiver provides the voltage for the motor in the antenna. When you rock the switch, the transceiver transmits in the tune mode. You watch for the dip in the SWR. When the SWR dips down, you release the switch. Sometimes you may need to jog the position of the coil to get to the lowest sWR. Tuning typically takes less than 30 seconds! So, to restate, the i-Box does two things. One, it gets the voltage for the motor from the transceiver. Two, it keys the rig in the tune mode. With the 746 and 756, the process is slightly different and functionality is somewhat limited.
The i-Box only works with antennas with the with the Sidekick and HS-1800/Pro Antennas. Those antennas have the Black Hawk Motor. Other brands, copies of our antennas and older version High Sierra Antennas do not work with the i-Box. Please don't call to complain, it won't work with other brands.
We make the box for the controller right here at High Sierra. The aluminum box is powder coated black and is approximately 2 inches by 2 inches by 1.5 inches. The light comes on when the antenna is fully retracted or fully extended. We call it our "end of travel light." It's almost magic! We even put up/down arrows on the rocker switch.
The price is $110. When you purchase an antenna, Mobile Package Deal or Home Package Deal, you can pick the i-Box controller when you order by using the Product Options box at the bottom of the page. It adds just $50 to the price.
